Work with Me

My goal? To help you bulldoze through life’s roadblocks, stick to your values, flex your strengths, and walk away with a toolkit that actually works, long after our sessions are over.

No fluff, just forward momentum.

“In my therapy practice, I mix a variety of evidence-based approaches like CBT, Narrative Therapy, Talk Therapy, and Solution-Focused techniques to create a space that’s supportive, collaborative, and actually gets results (without the cliché couch cliché).”

Whether you’re navigating anxiety, relationship twists, life transitions, or just trying to make sense of it all, our work together will be customized to fit your goals because one-size-fits-all therapy is “So LAST Season. “

About My Approaches

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, or CBT, a fancy way of saying ‘let’s figure out why your brain keeps messing with you.’ The idea is that your annoying negative thoughts are causing all your drama, and if you can spot and challenge them, you might actually start handling life like a normal human.

Talk Therapy

Talk Therapy, AKA psychotherapy is a structured heart-to-heart with a trained professional who actually listens. The goal? Helping you figure out why your brain does that thing it does, understand your feelings, and notice patterns before they notice you. In a supportive, no-judgment zone, you get to untangle your challenges, make sense of your experiences, and maybe even pick up a few smarter coping strategies along the way.

Narrative Therapy

Narrative Therapy is a team effort where you and your therapist, ideally ME, get to rewrite your life story without any plot holes caused by your problems. It’s based on the idea that the stories you tell about yourself shape who you are and how you act. Therapy helps you spot the chapters that keep you stuck and start writing ones that actually work in your favor.

Solution-Focused Techniques

Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) is the ‘let’s skip the pity party and get to the good stuff’ approach. It’s goal-oriented, future-focused, and all about finding solutions instead of endlessly analyzing past problems. The idea is simple: you already have the strengths and resources to make positive changes, sometimes you just need a little guidance to notice them.

About Sayra

Sayra C Besner headshot, therapist in Florida

Hi, I’m Sayra Besner, a Miami therapist, credentialed, LCSW. I’ve been passionate about helping people navigate life’s twists, turns, and occasional plot twists for as long as I can remember. I earned my master’s in social work from Barry University in 2007 and kicked off my career in New York City, first as the Director of an outpatient mental health clinic, then managing a halfway house for women with co-occurring disorders. Those experiences taught me a lot about resilience, empathy, and the fact that sometimes life really does require a strong cup of coffee (or three).

After that, I hit pause on professional life to focus on raising my two amazing kids. During that time, I also experienced postpartum depression, which gave me firsthand insight into the rollercoaster of parenthood and life transitions and fueled my commitment to supporting others through the messy, wonderful parts of life.

Now, as a single mom and owner of my private practice, I work with people from all walks of life, with a special focus on women’s issues. Whether it’s anxiety, guilt, identity struggles, or just trying to make sense of the chaos, I’m here to help you move closer to your goals and maybe even laugh a little along the way.
